A tribute to Aunty Chizo

A tribute to Aunty Chizo,

I still can’t believe you are gone, Aunty Chizo. It feels so strange not hearing your voice yelling at me saying “clean up that area” or “If you were in your house you wouldn’t be doing this stuff.” You always had that loud and strong voice, but I knew that it came from love and you were just trying to make sure I was going in the right direction.

You were like a second mom to me, always making sure I’m doing well and always making good food like my mom did sometimes. You made sure that every time I was in your house I wouldn’t mess it up and you made sure wherever I was, even if it was upstairs or downstairs, I would always get screamed at, but that never stopped you from trying to be a good aunty. I knew you were doing it because you loved me.

I’ll miss how you talked to Sophie and Archie like they were actual people, and how you loved rocky so much before he passed. I like to think that everybody which includes my mom, Aunty Chizo, my grandparents, Rocky, and all the other pets she had ever owned, will all be together and she’s not alone.

To my Uncle Chuka, my cousins Afam, Nnamdi and Obinna, I just wanted to say I’m so sorry. Aunty Chizo was an amazing person, and she was so strong, kind and funny. She would never joke around with you guys and would always make sure you came first. She always held things down together at the house and she loved y’all so much.

Aunty Chizo, I’ll miss your laughter, your shouting, your cooking, your everything. Thank you for always treating me like your fourth son.
Rest well Aunty Chizo. We’ll never forget you

Love Kwen Kwen (Chikwendu Eric-Atuanya)
